Corrections Specialized Units
Specialized Teams Within Corrections
The Corrections Division maintains several specialized teams that support day-to-day custody operations and respond to situations that require additional training, equipment, or coordination. Each team is staffed by trained Correctional Officers, Correctional Corporals, and Correctional Sergeants.
Corrections Special Operations Response Team (C-SORT)
The Corrections Special Operations Response Team (C-SORT) is the Imperial County Sheriff’s Office’s tactical response element within the jail system. The team is built from the ranks of our most capable correctional staff — Correctional Officers, Correctional Corporals, and Correctional Sergeants — who complete specialized training beyond standard custody assignments.
C-SORT is the agency’s first line of response when a situation exceeds what a standard shift can safely manage. The team is trained and equipped to:
- Restore order during disturbances across all three jail facilities
- Move high-risk incarcerated persons securely between locations
- Respond to incidents requiring specialized escorts
- Support day-to-day operations during elevated risk scenarios
Every member of C-SORT trains to a higher standard because the stakes demand it. Their readiness protects staff, protects the incarcerated population, and protects the integrity of the facilities they serve.

The Imperial County Sheriff’s Office takes great pride in its K-9 Unit because of the proficiency, ability, and utility of the canines working in partnership with their handlers and the community.
The Canine program was established to augment searches of the facility and decrease the amount of contraband. K-9 handlers train alongside their partners to maintain readiness for a range of custody-related searches, evidence detection work, and facility security operations.
